Laura Juarez Baggett — Architect

“Architecture shapes our lives whether we see it or not. All spaces affect how we feel.”— Laura Juarez Baggett, LJB Studio

In a modest, 900-square-foot house in a small Texas town, Laura Juarez Baggett watched her parents take on one renovation after another, guided by library books, graph paper, and a willingness to learn by doing. They extended rooms, built porches, and shaped spaces with their own hands, solving problems with creativity and care. That rhythm of making left a lasting impression on their daughter. By the time she was twelve, Baggett was already drawing house plans of her own, fascinated by how design could shape daily life.

When it came time for college, she chose the University of Texas at Arlington for practical reasons. She could live at home, work to pay tuition, and keep her focus steady. Every professor warned that holding a job while studying architecture was impossible, but the experience taught Baggett discipline and self-reliance — and quitting wasn’t an option.
