Joshua Jones— Architect
“It’s important to honor a home’s surroundings, history, and landscape. Everything is connected in the end.”
Other subtle changes signal Jones’ fresh approach: a cedar shingle roof and copper gutters, triple and double-hung windows, a circular bay window that echoes the original light source in the dining room. An elevator addition had created a dead end in the kitchen, accessed from the dining room and a back stair, with doors to the backyard. The kitchen renovation with the addition of a family room and the gallery allowed a more circular flow, with a third access point appearing via the gallery hall.
This ended up being one of the owner’s unexpected favorite spaces in his new home, as it provides a beautiful new area suited for modern family life. The lounge and office above the new garage are also high on his list, a testament to 21st-century design needs that can slot perfectly into an historic home
