In the Spotlight — From Press to Premiere, New View Midwest Emerges

Anticipation builds toward an evening that brings together architecture, design, and community in a setting defined by intention. The upcoming launch of New View: A Curated Visual Gallery: Twenty Magnificent Homes by Midwest Architects marks the next chapter in benton buckley books’ ongoing exploration of place — and the distinct voices shaping it.

More than a celebration, the evening marks an arrival — of ideas, of talent, and of a region increasingly recognized for its architectural voice. As reflected in the recently published article in Grand Rapids Magazine’s “By Design: Visionaries Along the Lakeshore,” featuring Robert Sears, Jeff Visser, and Brad Douglas Tilma, the Midwest is emerging as a place of thoughtful design dialogue — a perspective that closely aligns with New View Midwest: A Curated Visual Gallery. Read the full article here — a compelling look at the voices shaping this evolving design narrative.

Hosted at LaFontsee Galleries in Grand Rapids, Michigan, the launch will take place on Thursday, May twenty-eight, from six to eight in the evening. In collaboration with this gallery setting, the event reflects a shared commitment to exhibition — where art, design, and environment exist in thoughtful dialogue. Guests will gather at 1504 Plainfield Avenue NE, an address that, for the evening, becomes a point of convergence for the design community.

As with each title in the New View series, New View Midwest: A Curated Visual Gallery brings together architects whose work reflects both individuality and a shared sensitivity to place — forming a narrative that is at once regional and expansive. The launch extends this sensibility, inviting guests to engage with the work, the voices behind it, and the curatorial philosophy that defines benton buckley books, where each page is considered and each inclusion intentional.

Attendance is by invitation, with guests kindly asked to RSVP by May eighteen. The evening remains intimate by design — allowing space for genuine connection, conversation, and reflection.
