“Sustainability safeguards homeowners while honoring the land, ensuring a harmonious balance between comfort, beauty, and environmental stewardship.”— Kurt Zobrist, Architect - Zobrist Design Group
At the home’s heart is a two-story gathering room with warm wood-toned ceilings that foster an intimate yet spacious atmosphere. Unique design elements, such as hidden trim to highlight the owners’ copious art collection, reflect a balance between functionality and aesthetics. Additional luxuries, such as an outdoor hot tub, a wine room near the entrance, and a sauna-cold plunge room downstairs, elevate the home’s retreatlike experience.
Sustainability was at the forefront of the design process, with the home earning LEED Platinum certification. High-performance insulation, geothermal heating and cooling, and energy-efficient windows ensure yearround efficiency. The standing-seam metal roof, in a light hue, reduces heat absorption, reinforcing the home’s energy-conscious design. Even a unique feature such as the interior living wall, which cascades across a cozy nook off the kitchen, enhances air quality while adding a lush, organic focal point. The owners often start their day by enjoying coffee in this tropical alcove, watching the ever-flowing barge traffic glide down the Ohio River. It’s the ideal moment of reflection in their dream home, now in their dream location.
