Philip Thomas Vanderford — Interior Designer
“Scale is almost mathematical and not at all subjective. It’s either right or it’s wrong — and inarguably so.”
— Philip Thomas Vanderford, interior designer
An Excerpt from “/be-spok/[bespoke]: a philosophy of beauty” by Beth Benton Buckley:
To create designs that are elevated yet unexpected, Philip Thomas Vanderford prioritizes color, texture, scale, balance, and, perhaps most importantly, a room’s flow. The designer strongly believes that these principles, along with constantly editing a space until it feels just right, are the building blocks to a layered and unique home.
Philip has long been passionate about design and interiors. He cultivated his skillset from a young age, thanks to his grandfather, a master craftsman, machinist, and woodworker. By high school, Philip had set his sights on design, and he attended the Fay Jones School of Architecture and Design at the University of Arkansas. He went on to establish Studio Thomas James as a resource for thoughtful spaces. Each home should have its own spirit, he believes, cultivated with a mix of new, old, custom, and heirloomfurniture and décor.
