Nicola Manganello— Interior Designer

“I find that each project – each space – tends to inform its own design direction. During the earliest stages, there are lots of considerations that encourage different design decisions – architecture, room features, prominent furnishings – they can all play a role.”

Whether it’s a renovation, a new space for a client or a spec home, the Yarmouth, Maine based Interior Design team — led by Nicola Manganello — always begins the process the same way: with a mental exploration of the entire space. Nicola imagines the space as her own, as herself furnishing the space entirely and living in it. This is truly the way she emotionally connects to each of her projects.

And rules of design? Nicola advises clients to leave those predisposed ideas on design far behind. “I don’t think there are — or should be — rules of design. Good design calls for finding the best ideas that push convention. I do a lot of exploration with color, finding unexpected pairings, making new discoveries. The real satisfaction in design comes with making decisions that surprise clients and really get their attention. It’s that creativity that makes the work I do interesting and rewarding.”

The space you spend your time in, like your home, your office or even your dream lake house, these are the spaces that you should love being and working in. Nicola takes much pride in her ability to balance function and beauty. It’s this delicate balance, she believes, that speaks to perspective clients. They want spaces where they can see themselves living, sharing these spaces while spending time with their family and friends, and creating memorable experiences. So, from day one, she ensures her spaces feel welcoming, family friendly — even a little “broken in.”

Nicola Manganello continues to dream up new design solutions for projects that span design, drafting, and general contracting of new construction homes or renovations to high-end, custom interior design services.
