Kristin Dittmar Doremus — Interior Designer

“Design should be beautiful but comfortable — pets, kids, and red wine all exist in the real world.”

Kristin Dittmar Doremus, interior designer

An Excerpt from “/be-spok/[bespoke]: a philosophy of beauty” by Beth Benton Buckley:

Think “mountain design,” and rough-hewn log cabins, scratchy plaid, and puddles of melted snow might come immediately to mind. But not when Kristin Dittmar Doremus does it. The Aspen native has transformed the genre’s traditionally rustic constraints into her own version of ski-town chic, bringing a modern mountain aesthetic to homes across Colorado and beyond.

Naturally, designing interiors with the Rocky Mountains as a backdrop has helped Kristin develop an innate sense of scale and focus — why would you ever try to diminish Mother Nature’s gorgeous peaks soaring right outside the window? Choosing furniture, lighting, and décor to complement, not compete with, the stunning natural surroundings is her first rule of design. Mixing styles, materials, and lighting is the second, and she has perfected both during her award-winning career.
