Kelly Hohla— Interior Designer
“We created a statement moment for the entry with this artful vignette. The painting, by Gregory Hayes, the sculptural Elan Atelier custom console and the washed, painterly rug by Stark all establish the client’s sophistication—and our love of color and composition.”
— Kelly Hohla, interior designer
Bringing a wealth of education and experience to her practice, Kelly Hohla exudes both business and design acumen to the ultimate test by opening her own shop in 2011. Although she’s an obvious creative, Kelly has the rare fortune of also being able to engage the analytical and organized side of her brain (she credits this to a long line of family engineers). So even though KHI is an artistic design group, there are guidelines and rules that enable the team to successfully execute complex projects. Their systems and organization give the team the freedom to play as well as the structure to execute highly detailed design vision.
Known for her use of color, it’s no surprise Kelly has a self-admitted passion for rich palettes. Though Kelly respects her clients’ desires and boundaries, her team informs each interior—whether bold or soft—with masterful pattern language, an artful approach to composition, and, of course, color play.
“We’re always here to serve the client’s vision, and they have hopefully chosen to work with us because our voice speaks to them, and they can see something in the work that they admire. Every project is a different collaboration, built from the client’s personality and our team’s vision of how to bring that to life in our point-of-view.”
Over her design career, Kelly has worked on projects featured in Architectural Digest, Elle Décor, Metropolitan Home, House Beautiful, California Home and Design, and many more.
