Geddes Ulinskas — Architect

“The ability to listen and understand is vital to producing exceptional homes. A passion for good design unifies all the work.”

Geddes Ulinskas, architect

Sustainable green gardens decorate all the roof areas, even beyond the dreamy roof deck. Not only does this significantly reduce the amount of cooling required, but it also uses a substantial amount of water that would otherwise be surface run-off. The roof deck itself has become the surprise preferred gathering spot for the owners.

The vibe of the home is classic modern in the sense that the design incorporates minimal lines and detailing mixed with timeless materiality. Soaring limestone walls are accented by bronze windows and railings for a hand-crafted feel. Hand-troweled plaster walls meet oak fascia, with such traditional materials bringing in warmth and Old World charm. The sloped, cantilevered roofs and high ribbon windows recall some of the best elements of midcentury modern design.

While the home’s windows were in production, Ulinskas traveled to Italy to meet with the craftsman and technicians who were assembling the bronze, wood, and glass that would become the exterior of the project. It was a full-circle moment for a home that sports Italiandesign roots.
