Design on a Dime 2017

I was invited this year to Miami's Design on a Dime Benefit, a fundraiser originally from New York and now with a second event in Miami. This is the second annual Design on a Dime to be hosted here! A wonderful event with the hopes of ending AIDS in America by 2025, the folks that host the event, Housing Works, bring together local interior designers to create room vignettes, where items within the room can be auctioned off and proceeds going to the campaign.

This year the event took place in the gorgeous Moore Building in Miami. Design on a Dime took place over the course of two nights, with the opening night kicking off with a VIP preview, a period for shopping, and then a chairman's dinner. All pieces were donated and sold at a 50-80% discount. There were over 25 top interior designers who were asked to design the room vignettes that ended up being sold.

Miami local designer, Robert Rionda was able to make a double vignette room with his theme of "Havana Nights", a nod to his Cuban heritage. The beautiful red couch you see in the picture was donated by ESPASSO, a company specializing in mid-century and modern Brazilian style furniture. The photograph on the wall ("Everglades in Bloom") was donated by my close and dear friend, Troy Campbell. Robert is such an amazing designer and it's been such a joy to work closely with him these past few months.
